The symposium aims to empower and encourage young women to consider and choose engineering, science, and technology fields as a career path. Women make up about half of the world’s population, however, their contribution to the fields is much less with the worldwide average of ~14% and Singapore R&D of ~30% (Yearbook of Statistics).

EPWS President honoured with Order of Merit

EPWS President Dr. Brigitte Mühlenbruch has been honoured with the Order of Merit 1st Class of the Federal Republic of Germany in acknowledgement of her pioneering work in the promotion of women in science at national as well as European level. She received the Order of Merit by the German Federal President Joachim Gauck himself in Berlin on 6 October 2014 on the occasion of the Day of German Unity.

Medical devices and biomedical engineers needed in response to the Ebola outbreak

Yesterday, the United Nations Secretary-General Mr Ban Ki-moon  visited WHO and urged for actions. He said that  all  the United Nations and many partners are now joining forces to contain Ebola, under  the  “UN  Mission for Ebola Emergency Response (UNMEER)”.
