MEDICON 2026 is pleased to announce two exciting opportunities for the biomedical engineering community: the MEDICON Challenge 2026 is now open, and the Call for Papers for MEDICON 2026 is officially live.
The MEDICON Challenge 2026 invites researchers, students, and innovators from around the world to address real-world challenges at the intersection of medicine, engineering, and technology. The initiative is designed to spotlight bold ideas and impactful solutions in areas such as intelligent systems, biomedical devices, data-driven healthcare, and novel clinical technologies. Full details are available on the official Challenge announcement page.
At the same time, the MEDICON 2026 Call for Papers is open for submissions to the XVII Mediterranean Conference on Medical and Biological Engineering. The conference will be held at the University of Siena – Presidio Mattioli, Siena, Italy, from 14 to 17 September 2026. MEDICON 2026 will bring together researchers, clinicians, engineers, and professionals to share advances in medical and biological engineering, computing, and health technologies.
The conference welcomes contributions across a broad range of topics, including Generative AI and Machine Learning for Precision Medicine, Digital Twins and Virtual Physiological Human Models, Clinical Engineering and Medical Devices Management, Robotics and Automation in Surgery and Rehabilitation, Next-Generation Medical Imaging and Diagnostics, Bioinformatics, Wearable Sensors and Remote Patient Monitoring, Smart Biomaterials and Advanced Drug Delivery, and Biomedical Data Science and Health Informatics. Authors can consult the full scope and submission instructions in the official CFP page on EasyChair.
Please note that both the abstract registration deadline and the paper submission deadline are 12 April 2026. Accepted papers will be published in the IFMBE Proceedings by Springer Nature and indexed in Scopus. Authors interested in participating can access the Call for Papers and submission information here.
The MEDICON Challenge also offers participants the opportunity to present their work to an international audience, gain visibility within the biomedical engineering community, compete with innovative teams from across the globe, and contribute to real-world healthcare impact. Those wishing to take part can read more and get started through the MEDICON Challenge 2026 page.
We invite the IFMBE community to join the MEDICON Challenge 2026 and submit a paper to MEDICON 2026.
