IFMBE Latin America Summer School,“Emerging Technologies to Support Health for Independent Living,” hosted by Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (PUJ), celebrated its 10th edition!

This international program is sponsored by the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE). The school took place from June 30th to July 4th, 2026 with a closing ceremony honoring students and distinguished guests from IFMBE and PUJ.

The Summer School is designed to bring together international experts, students, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and researchers in an innovation ecosystem focused on the design and development of integrated health services with new-generation technologies regarding healthy and productive ageing in the Latin American context. Students from multiple countries of Latin America participated in various activities, including a hackathon, creating innovative solutions to enhance the quality of life of elderly, in collaboration with students from Electronics, Mechatronics, and Bioengineering programs at PUJ. This inspiring program was led by Professor Martha Zequera, Full Professor at the Department of Electronics, and member of IFMBE AC, Chair of Education & Acreditation Committee and Students & Recent Graduates Working Group.
