2022 Call for Nominations

IFMBE Officers, IFMBE Ordinary AC Members, IFMBE CoS Chairperson, Regional Representatives to the IFMBE AC & IFMBE Division Board Members

IFMBE is now seeking nominations for:

1) IFMBE Officers positions for 2022 – 2025 term:
a. President-Elect
b. Secretary-General
c. Treasurer

2) Two (2) Administrative Council (AC) Members to serve two successive terms (2022-2025 and 2025-2028)

NB: The term of office in the AC for Prof. Igor Lackovic and Prof. Bruce Wheeler will expire at the World Congress 2022 as they have served two terms: 2015-2018 and 2018-2022; while Prof. Martha Zequera Diaz and Prof. Jari Hyttinen will continue for another term from 2022-2025.

3) Council of Societies (CoS) Chairperson for the 2022-2025 term.
NB: The term of office of current CoS Chair Prof. Monique Frize will expire at the World Congress 2022 and the position is eligible for re-election once.

4) Regional Representatives to the IFMBE AC for the 2022-2025 term.

NB: Election will take place at the General Assembly. Election will be for a 3-year term, renewable once. RG Representatives are ex officio members of the Administrative Council of the IFMBE. All current regional representatives are eligible for re-election: Prof. Ichiro Sakuma, Asian-Pacific Region; Prof. Timo Jamsa, Europe and Africa; Prof. Eric Laciar Leber, Latin America and Prof. Marie-Ange Janvier, North America.

5) Eight (8) Division Board Members to serve for two successive terms (2022-2025 and 2025-2028); consisting of four (4) members for the Clinical Engineering Division (CED) and four (4) members for the Healthcare Technology Assessment Division (HTAD)

NB: Clinical Engineering Division (CED)
The following CED Board members will continue their term till 2025:
Prof. Stefano Bergamasco, Prof. Leandro Pecchia, Prof. Fabiola Martinez, Prof. Almir Badnjevic
The term of office in the Board for Prof. Tom Judd, Prof. Mladen Poluta, and Prof. Paolo Lago will expire at the World Congress 2022 as they have served two terms: 2015-2018 and 2018-2022.

NB: Healthcare Technology Assessment Division (HTAD)
The following HTA Board members will continue their term till 2025:
Prof. Ernesto Iadanza, Prof. Daniel Clark, Prof. Murilo Contó and Prof. Albert Poon
The term of office in the Board for Prof. Marjan HUMMEL, Prof. Mario MEDVEDEC and Kallirroi Stavrianou will expire at the World Congress 2022 as they have served two terms: 2015-2018 and 2018-2022. Each Society may nominate any of their delegates interested in becoming IFMBE AC Members, Officers, or Division (CED or HTAD) Board Members to become candidates for election. In order for a Society to nominate a candidate, the society must be in good standing* with the annual membership dues payment to IFMBE. It is expected that the society contacts the nominated candidate to confirm their willingness to serve in the proposed position. Each candidate must submit a signed document including a photography, a brief biography (not to exceed 200 words), and a position statement (not to exceed 200 words) of potential actions and contributions to IFMBE if elected. Please, use the IFMBE Nomination Form. Once the candidate has met these criteria, the candidate’s information will be passed on to the IFMBE Nomination Committee for review and approval.

The names of the nominated candidates with individual biography and position statement for election will be announced to the IFMBE Constituent Societies before the election. The election process will be conducted during the General Assembly at the World Congress 2022 in Singapore. Completed Nomination Forms should be submitted to:

*Good Standing refers to Society is up to date with their membership payment to IFMBE.

 

IFMBE Honorary Life Members 2022

IFMBE is now seeking nominations for Honorary Life Members. Elected members will be recognized during the World Congress in Singapore 12-16 June 2022.

The IFMBE Bylaws state that ”The IFMBE confers the title of Honorary Life Member to a select group of individuals. The title of Honorary Life Member is bestowed on individuals who have rendered exceptional service to the Federation. Nominations can be made by any member of an affiliated entity of the Federation, by the IFMBE Administrative Council or by the IFMBE Awards or Nominating Committees. Honorary Life members shall be recommended for election from the list of nominations. The Nominating Committee shall forward its recommendations to the Administrative Council of the IFMBE for endorsement. Endorsement by the Administrative Council shall be by a majority vote of the voting members of the Council”. Approval of the list of nominees, endorsed by the Administrative Council, is by a vote of the General Assembly.

To nominate an individual, please complete the enclosed Nomination Form. Provide sufficient detail for the committee to make an informed decision. Use additional pages if necessary.

This is a reminder that the nomination process must be confidential. You are not to inform the individual you are nominating so as to prevent embarrassment in the event he/she is not elected. Completed Nomination Forms should be submitted to:

IFMBE Awards Programme

The International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE) is seeking nominations for the IFMBE Awards Programme 2022.

IFMBE entities, affiliated member societies, or a group of at least five distinguished IFMBE members are invited to nominate outstanding individuals  who contributed to biomedical engineering for the IFMBE Awards Programme 2022 in the following categories (one award):

  1. Vladimir K. Zworykin Award
  2. Otto Schmitt Award
  3. John A. Hopps Distinguished Service Award
  4. Laura Bassi Award
  5. IUPESM Awards of Merit – BME
