CLAIB and CLASD (October 2nd – October 5th) took place in Panama City, Panama, with the University Latina de Panamá and Hotel Riu Plaza as the venues. Approximately 200 attendees participated from countries including Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Peru, Paraguay and Brazil, along with speakers from Latin America, Asia, Europe, and North America.
The event was organized by the Panamanian Association of Biomedical Engineering (APIB) and the Regional Council of Biomedical Engineering for Latin America (CORAL). It was inaugurated on October 3rd, in the presence of officials from IFMBE, CORAL, and APIB.
The main topics of the congress include: Biomaterials, Tissue Engineering and Artificial Organs, Biomedical Signal and Image Processing, Biomechanics, Biorobotics and Rehabilitation Engineering, Clinical Engineering and Health Technology Assessment, Biosensors and Biomedical Instrumentation, Education and Society in Biomedical Engineering, Innovation and Development of Medical Devices, Medical Physics and Nuclear Medicine, Micro and Nanotechnology, Modeling and Simulation, and Women in Biomedical Engineering.
A total of 21 publications were produced by CLASD and 69 by CLAIB, focusing on the key topics mentioned earlier. During the closing ceremony, the top three research projects from finalist of Miguel Cadena Mendez Contest and Young Investigator Contest were awarded, with their presentations taking place on October 4th.
