The Brazilian Congress of Biomedical Engineering, in its 2024 edition, was jointly organized by the Brazilian Society of Biomedical Engineering and the Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters of the University of São Paulo, on the Ribeirão Preto Campus. The aim of the congress was to stimulate the development and transfer of scientific, technological and innovative knowledge to the health sector and   The Congress gave opportunity to the participants to engage in meaningful dialogues and search for ways to strengthen links between academia and the health industry.

The participants were able to join technical visits and enjoy professional networking with representatives of the Supera Innovation and Technology Park, Medical Instrumentation and Ultrasound Innovation Group (GIIMUS), Center for Nanotechnology and Tissue Engineering (CNET), Biomagnetism Laboratory, PhotoBiophysics Laboratory and SensorMat Laboratory. The Chair of the conference was Professor Adilton Carneiro. He is full professor at the University of São Paulo, lider of the Group of Innovation on Medical Instrumentation and Ultrasound and the president of the Brazilian Society of Biomedical Engineering. During the Congress, three competitions were held, and the awards were named to honour biomedical engineers who contributed a lot to biomedical engineering in Brazil and in Latin America: Antonio Fernando Catelli Infantosi Awards, Cândido Pinto de Melo Awards and Sérgio Santos Mühlen Awards.

 

IFMBE activities @ CBEB 2024

IFMBE organized a Special Session for Students where four panellists discussed issues on BME education and employability after finishing the studies. Also, a Workshop on Biomedical Engineering Education targeted the experience of BME educators and students from Brazil in the post-pandemic era and in conditions of new teaching tools based on AI.
