Fachverband Biomedizinische Technik (German Association for Biomedical Engineering) has been advocating for the interests of medical technicians and engineers since its founding in 1984 and, as a professional association, contributes to the advancement of medical technology.
Participation in DIN, DKE, and ISO standardization committees is just as much a part of the activities of fbmt experts as providing topic-specific advice and technical support. Statements, particularly regarding changes in medical device legislation, are an important instrument for representing the common interests of fbmt members. The fbmt has applied for IFMBE membership in 2025. After receiving a positive opinion from both, the Constitution and Bylaws committee and the Membership Committee, the General Assembly elected fbmt as a full member of the Federation on 15th December 2025.
