In Memoriam
Dr Siew Lok Toh
1951 – 08 September 2021

Our former colleague and friend, Dr Toh Siew Lok has passed on this morning. He was battling cancer for the last year. His son wrote to me to say that Siew Lok “stayed strong and fought a long battle even till the end”.

Siew Lok had been very active in not only in the Biomedical Engineering Society (Singapore) as its Vice-President but also in the IFMBE. He chaired the IFMBE Education & Accreditation Committee and was also the Secretary of the IFMBE Asia-Pacific Working Group. He had served with dedication in the organization of Summer Schools, Student Design Competition and the Asia-Pacific Young Researchers Networking etc. He was the Founding Deputy Head (Academic and Student Affairs) of the NUS BME Department in 2001. He established the BME curriculum and took the department through accreditation.

He had such a compassion for students-at-risk. Always going beyond the call and duty to reach out to them. He was well loved by students and staff. We will miss him dearly.
